To provide procedures to effectively handle the management of newborn babies surrendered to Hospitals, Fire Rescue and EMS personnel and to comply with Florida Statue 383.50 / HB-7007.

It is recommended that Initial Training and periodic refresher sessions utilizing these “Safe Haven” procedures be conducted for all personnel and made part of the organization's new hire process.

Education/Training to be conducted at a minimum for the following areas:

Public Information Officers and Training Officers
All Rank and File Personnel
For Hospitals – (employees, contractors, volunteers)
For Fire/EMS – (employees, contractors, volunteers)
ER, Labor/Delivery, Nursery, NICU
Case Management, Social Services
Compliance Director
Risk Management
Marketing/Public Relations
Admitting
Security
