Policy -
On July 1st, 2000, CSHB 1901– the Surrendered Baby Bill (Safe Haven) - went into effect. Under this law, Hospitals, 24/7 Staffed Fire
Stations and EMS Stations shall admit and provide all necessary services and care to a newborn infant brought to their facility
pursuant to this law. In July 2008, we successfully advocated to change the newborn surrender period from three (3) days to seven
(7) days.
